Ep 12: Why don’t diets work for long-term weight loss?

We’ve pretty much all been on a diet, lost the weight, and then regained it back (plus more)! But why don’t these diets help us to lose weight for good?  In this Just Eat Normally Podcast episode, I’m joined by Jeanette Thompson-Wessen to help explain why that happens.

Jeanette is a qualified Nutritionist, specialist in intuitive eating, body image, mum of two and food teacher. She helps women heal their relationship with food and their bodies so they can break up with dieting for good through the Mindset Nutritionist.

In this episode we discuss

– what is the evidence that diets don’t work for weight loss long-term?

– why might people regain the weight lost through a diet?

– what is Health at Every Size, fat-phobia and weight stigma?

– how to speak to a health professional who suggests you lose weight as/before treatment

Notes: Morbidity = rate of death (not risk of death as was mentioned at one point during this episode)
