Pay What you Want Wednesday Sessions

It's kind of what it says on the tin.

For a limited time I am offering sessions on a 'pay what you want/can afford' basis.

I usually work with clients through 3 hour Breakthrough sessions or the 6 month Nourish Programme. I only work with 5 one-to-one clients at any time, because I am passionate about spending quality time with every client to help them achieve full recovery. Clients have weekly sessions and access to me, my knowledge and skills every day for the duration of their programme. This high level of support is £300 per week, which on one hand is quite cheap for daily contact with a specialist chartered psychologist. On the other hand I know that a lot of people are unable to afford this, or any psychological support, especially given the current cost of living crisis.

With that in mind, I have decided to offer 10 individual and 3 group 'Pay What you Want' sessions, running on Wednesday's between 21st September and the end of October.

THIS SERVICE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Individual 1 hour sessions

This one-off (no commitment) session gives you a safe space to speak about your eating disorder thoughts/behaviours with a chartered psychologist. This session is your chance to ask personalised questions about eating disorders and recovery. Since we only have 60 minutes to get to know each other, this session is not clinical advice. Please come to the session with questions or difficulties that you would like to gain a new insight on.

fully booked

Group Q&A sessions

90 minute, online group sessions, hosted via zoom, to answer your questions about eating disorder recovery. My aim is to create a supportive space where you can be honest about your struggles and share ideas about how to make and sustain changes. Bulimia & Binge Eating Group Q&A

This group is for you if you are experiencing binges (eating large quantities of food, feeling out of control, possibly eating in secret and feeling ashamed). We may discuss purging behaviours such as self-induce vomiting, taking laxatives/diuretics, excessive exercise and fasting. The aim of this group is to lift shame, to bring understanding and provide ideas on how you can move forwards in recovery.

Restrictive Eating & Orthorexia Q&A

This group is for you if you know that you aren't eating enough or enough variety of foods, but you're struggling to do something about it (or even decide if you want to do something about it). Topics might include the effects of restricting, food guilt and breaking food rules. Please come to this group with an open mind and willingness to hear other perspectives about 'good' and 'bad' foods.

All Topics & Everyone Welcome Group

This group is intended for anyone struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating, as well as friends/family, and professionals. Please submit your questions in advance so that I can try to group them and answer as many as possible. We will use the questions to prompt a discussion.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS.
PLEASE EMAIL RACHEL@RACHELEVANSPHD.CO.UK

Is the session private?

Respecting your confidentiality is very important, however in a group session it cannot be 100% guaranteed. I will ask everyone at the start of the session to respect confidentiality and not to share details about other participants outside of the session.
The session will not be recorded and I will not be taking notes. The only reasons that I would break confidentiality i) if I consider you or others to be in imminent danger or ii) required by a court of law.

Can I attend more than one session?

Yes, you are welcome to attend either of the small group sessions (28th September OR 5th October) AND the unlimited group size session on 12th October. I will be answering questions from those who haven't been to a previous session first. .

How long is the session?

Group Q&A sessions are 90 minutes long. You do not need to stay for the duration of the session, you are welcome to enter and leave at any point so long as you have booked a space in the session

How do I access the group Q&A?

These sessions will be run on zoom. After booking, you will receive a link to zoom 24 hours and 1 hour before the session start time. Using zoom means that you can join from the comfort of your own home and from anywhere in the world. You can choose to have your camera on or off throughout the session, and I will request that people place themselves on mute when they are not asking a question. Your name will be visible on zoom, you are welcome to use a different name than your given name or the name that you sign up with, but please email me so I know to let you join.

Can I get my money back if I can no longer attend?

The short answer is no. Please check your plans and time zones before you book. If you miss or cancel your session for any reason it will not be rescheduled, made-up or the booking fee refunded in any way. Honestly, it will cost me money to refund your £1 booking fee that I am not willing pay. Also I have a 6 month old baby to look after and I don’t want the hassle of organising if multiple people change their mind/plans and want to move. You can use the links above to sign up to a new session if there is space available.

What is the cost?

The session is on a 'pay what you want basis', which means that you choose how much to pay via the online booking system at the point of scheduling. Previous recipients of 'pay what you feel' sessions have paid £0-15. The non-refundable booking fee for group Q&A sessions is £1. If you are unable to pay the booking fee then please email me rachel@rachelevansphd.co.uk to waive the fee.

Are these group therapy sessions?

No. These are question and answer sessions, in which I can share information, education and stories of eating disorder recovery but any answers given in the session do not constitute clinical advice or therapy. When attending the session you are agreeing to take full responsibility for yourself and your actions, during and after the session. If you think that the topics covered in the groups may be triggering for you, then please have a plan in place to keep yourself safe
